Ingredients:
2 c  Sifted flour
1/2 ts Salt
1/2 ts Baking powder
1 1/3 c  Beef suet, ground twice
1/3 c  Shortening
Cold water
MEAT FILLING FOR PASTIES
Butter

Sift flour with salt & baking powder. Add beef suet & shortening &
cut fat into flour until particles are very fine. Add enough cold
water to make a dough the consistency of pie crust. Chill. Roll out
dough to 1/8″ thickness on a lightly floured board. Cut out eight 7″
rounds. Divide meat filling into 8 portions & cover half of each
round with the mixture. Dot top of filling with butter. Fold pastry
over filling & seal by moistening edges. Lift with a spatula & put on
a cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven of 350 for 1 hour, or until
pastry is golden brown.
