Chili Roasted Peanuts

Preheat oven to 325F. Combine all ingredients except the nuts in a baking pan & mix well. Add nuts & toss to mix. Spread nuts in a single layer & bake for 20 minutes, or until golden, stirring 2 or 3 times during cooking. Serve barely warm or at room temperature. Variation: Try assorted nuts.

Cream shortening and sugar till smooth. Add all the handfuls. Mix well, then add combined flour and baking soda. Add milk. Drop by tablespoons on greased cookie sheet. Red Pepper Dip

Place garlic and jalapeno pepper in food processor or mill and puree. Add pecans, pimento peppers, olive oil and salt and process until mixture is smooth. Mix in Parmesan, if desired.

Radish Spread

Wash and trim radishes. In a food processor fitted with a steel blade, grate radishes and herbs briefly. Blend in cream cheese and lemon juice. Refrigerate. Serve on crackers or thin slices of bread.

Chipped Beef Dip

Preheat oven 350 F. In a large bowl, blend cream cheese and milk. Stir in chipped beef, onion, green pepper, pepper and sour cream. Mix well. Pour into a small baking dish and sprinkle pecans on top. Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes in a 350 F oven. Serve hot with chips or crackers.

Creamed Herring

Puree the herring (sauce and all) in a food processor or blender until smooth. Add all the other ingredients and continue to process until smooth. Cover and chill. Makes about 2 cups of dip. SUGGESTED DIPPERS: Cocktail Rye Bread, Lavasch Crackers, Broccoli, Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini

Lollipop Franks

Sift first four ingredients together, stir in cornmeal, cut in short- ening, combine egg and milk, and add to cornmeal mix. Sir all until well mixed. Insert wooden skewers into end of frank. Spread frank evenly with batter. Deep fry until browned (4-5 minutes). ENJOY
